During the academic year 1938-1939, the «Seniorenkonvent Leuven» (Abbr.: SK Leuven) celebrated its second lustrum. In honour of this celebration, this songbook was published by the SK Leuven and the «Katholiek Vlaams Hoogstudentenverbond Leuven» (Abbr.: KVHV Leuven).
The memorial book and Clubcodex incorporated in this work had already been published as a separate work five years earlier on the occasion of the first lustrum; the songbook however had not yet been included. Until this edition, it was published separately as the so called «Kerlingaliederboekje» (tr.: Kerlinga Songbook). In this book on the occasion of the second lustrum, we read the following:
«Thus the 7th edition of the «Kerlingaliederboek» (tr.: Kerlinga songbook) goes together with the 2nd edition of the «Gedenkboek en Clubcodex KVHV» (tr.: Memorial book and clubcodex of the KVHV) to form the «Gedenkboek, Clubcodex en Liederboek der Vlaamsche studenten» (tr.: Memorial book, Clubcodex and Songbook of Flemish Students).
It is so made clear that this songbook is a merging of two existing work into a comprehensive work containing historical information, the rules set in the codex and the songs that were common on student gatherings.
The KVHV Leuven was founded on 27 November 1902 by Dr. Jozef Vermeylen under the name «Vlaamsch Verbond». Its colours are Black-Yellow-Cyan.
They are a Flemish, catholic and traditional-studentical association. They overarch the SK («Seniorenkonvent») and MSK («Meisjesseniorenconvent»).

The SK Leuven was founded on 19 November 1929 by Dr. Edmond de Goeyse. Their colours are Black-Yellow-Cyan.
They are an overarching student association for male regional student clubs in Leuven. Their motto is «Amicitia et fides inter utrumque».

Pendant l’année académique 1938-1939, le «Seniorenkonvent Leuven» (Abbr. : SK Leuven) a célébré son deuxième lustre. En l’honneur de cette célébration, ce recueil de chanson a été publié par la SK Leuven et le «Katholiek Vlaams Hoogstudentenverbond Leuven» (Abbr. : KVHV Leuven).
Le livre commémoratif et le Clubcodex incorporés dans cet ouvrage avaient déjà été publiés en tant qu’ouvrage distinct cinq ans auparavant à l’occasion du premier lustre ; le chansonnier n’avait cependant pas encore été inclus. Jusqu’à cette édition, il a été publié séparément sous le nom de «Kerlingaliederboekje» (tr. : Chansonnier Kerlinga). Dans ce livre, à l’occasion du deuxième lustre, on peut lire ce qui suit :
«Ainsi, la 7e édition du «Kerlingaliederboek» (tr. : chansonnier Kerlinga) s’associe à la 2e édition du «Gedenkboek en Clubcodex KVHV» (tr. : livre commémoratif et clubcodex du KVHV) pour former le «Gedenkboek, Clubcodex en Liederboek der Vlaamsche studenten» (livre commémoratif, Clubcodex et chansonnier des étudiants flamands).
Il est ainsi précisé que ce chansonnier est une fusion de deux ouvrages existants en un ouvrage complet contenant des informations historiques, les règles fixées dans le codex et les chants qui étaient courants lors des rassemblements d’étudiants.
Le KVHV Leuven a été fondé le 27 novembre 1902 par le Dr. Jozef Vermeylen sous le nom de «Vlaamsch Verbond». Ses couleurs sont Noir-Jaune-Cyan.
Il s’agit d’une association flamande, catholique et traditionnel-estudiantine. Elle regroupe le SK («Seniorenkonvent») et le MSK («Meisjesseniorenconvent»).

Tijdens het academiejaar 1938-1939 vierde het «Seniorenkonvent Leuven» (Afk.: SK Leuven) zijn tweede lustrum. Ter ere van deze viering werd dit liedboek uitgegeven door het SK Leuven en het Katholiek Vlaams Hoogstudentenverbond Leuven (Afk.: KVHV Leuven).
Het gedenkboek en de Clubcodex die in dit werk zijn opgenomen, waren vijf jaar eerder al als afzonderlijk werk verschenen ter gelegenheid van het eerste lustrum; het liedboek was er echter nog niet in opgenomen. Tot deze uitgave werd het afzonderlijk uitgegeven als het zgn. Kerlingaliederboekje. In dit boek ter gelegenheid van het tweede lustrum lezen we het volgende:
«Aldus gaat de 7e druk van het Kerlingaliederboek samen met de 2e druk van het Gedenkboek en Clubcodex KVHV tot het «Gedenkboek, Clubcodex en Liederboek der Vlaamsche studenten».
Hieruit blijkt dat dit liedboek een samenvoeging is van twee bestaande werken tot een allesomvattend werk met historische informatie, de in de codex vastgelegde regels en de liederen die op studentenbijeenkomsten gebruikelijk waren.
