Saint Verhaegen or St-V takes place every year on 20 November and celebrates the foundation of the ULB – Université Libre de Bruxelles which was founded on 20 November 1834 by Pierre-Théodore Verhaegen.
In 1969 the ULB was split into the French-speaking ULB – Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Dutch-speaking VUB – Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
The ACE – Association des Cercles Etudiants was founded in 1886. It represents and coordinates thirty folklorist circles at the ULB, be they baptismal, facultary or regional. It is active in defending the interests of student circles, promoting ULB student folklore and acts as an intermediary with the academic authorities of the University.

The BSG – Brussels Studentengenootschap (also known as the Brussels studenten genootschap – geen taal geen vrijheid (BSGgtgv) is the overseeing student organization of the VUB. They defend the moral and material interests of the student associations of the VUB and represents them towards the academic government.
It was founded in May 1856 as the “Nederduitsch Taalminnend Genootschap Schild en Vriend” but disappeared a few years later. It had an eventful history under different names and disappeared and reappeared on different occasions. Their colors are orange-white-blue.

The original theme of this St V was “homophobia and non-heteronormativity” with the slogan ” « Je ne suis pas homophobe, ik heb een faggot vriend ! ».
However, this was later adapted to an indictment of asylum policy with the slogan « Asiel voor de migrants, opkuisen les gouvernements» (tr.: asylum for the migrants, cleaning up the governments) as an invitation to reflect on the migration crisis and to reflect on how our government deals with this crisis. They wanted to point out that human rights and human dignity are often violated and that some of our policies do not live up to expectations.
The medal was designed by Sébastien Laurent. He used the colours of the various associations of which he is a member for the clothing of the people depicted on the medal.

La Saint Verhaegen ou St-V a lieu chaque année le 20 novembre et célèbre la fondation de l’ULB – Université Libre de Bruxelles qui a été fondée le 20 novembre 1834 par Pierre-Théodore Verhaegen.
En 1969, l’ULB a été scindée en deux : l’ULB francophone – Université Libre de Bruxelles et la VUB néerlandophone – Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
L’ACE – Association des Cercles Etudiants a été fondé en 1886 représente et coordonne à l’ULB trente cercles folkloriques, qu’ils soient baptismaux, facultaires ou régionaux. Elle est active dans la défense des intérêts des cercles étudiants, la promotion du folklore étudiant de l’ULB et sert d’intermédiaire avec les autorités académiques de l’Université.

Elle défend les intérêts moraux et matériels des associations étudiantes de la VUB et les représente auprès du gouvernement académique.
Elle a été fondée en mai 1856 sous le nom de “Nederduitsch Taalminnend Genootschap Schild en Vriend” mais a disparu quelques années plus tard. Elle a connu une histoire mouvementée sous différents noms et a disparu et réapparu à différentes occasions. Ses couleurs sont orange-blanc-bleu.

Le thème original de St V en 2017 était “homophobie et non-hétéronormativité” avec le slogan « Je ne suis pas homophobe, ik heb een faggot vriend ! ».
Cependant, cela a ensuite été adapté à une mise en accusation de la politique d’asile avec le slogan « Asiel voor de migrants, opkuisen les gouvernements» (tr. : asile pour les migrants, nettoyage des gouvernements) comme une invitation à réfléchir à la crise migratoire et à réfléchir à la manière dont notre gouvernement gère cette crise. Ils ont voulu souligner que les droits de l’homme et la dignité humaine sont souvent violés et que certaines de nos politiques ne sont pas à la hauteur des attentes.
La médaille a été conçue par Sébastien Laurent. Il a utilisé les couleurs des différentes associations dont il est membre pour les vêtements des personnes représentées sur la médaille.

Sint Verhaegen of St-V vindt elk jaar plaats op 20 november en viert de oprichting van de ULB – Université Libre de Bruxelles die op 20 november 1834 werd opgericht door Pierre-Théodore Verhaegen.
In 1969 werd de ULB officieel opgesplitst in de Franstalige ULB – Université Libre de Bruxelles en de Nederlandstalige VUB – Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
De ACE – Association des Cercles Etudiants werd in 1886 opgericht. Ze vertegenwoordigt en coördineert dertig folkloristische kringen aan de ULB, of het nu gaat om doop-, facultaire of regionale kringen. Ze verdedigt de belangen van de studentenkringen, promoot de ULB-studentenfolklore en treedt op als tussenpersoon bij de academische autoriteiten van de universiteit.

Het werd in mei 1856 opgericht als het “Nederduitsch Taalminnend Genootschap Schild en Vriend” maar verdween enkele jaren later. Het had een bewogen geschiedenis onder verschillende namen en verdween en kwam bij verschillende gelegenheden weer tevoorschijn. Hun kleuren zijn oranje-wit-blauw.

Dit werd echter later aangepast naar een aanklacht op het asielbeleid met de slogan « Asiel voor de migrants, opkuisen les gouvernements» (tr.: asiel voor de migranten, schoonmaken van de regeringen) als een uitnodiging om onszelf te bezinnen over de migratiecrisis en om na te denken over de manier waarop onze regering met deze crisis omgaat. Ze wilden erop wijzen dat de mensenrechten en de waardigheid van de mens vaak worden geschonden en dat sommige van onze beleidslijnen niet voldoen aan de verwachtingen.
De medaille werd ontworpen door Sébastien Laurent. Hij gebruikte de kleuren van de verschillende verenigingen waarvan hij lid is voor de kledij van de personen die afgebeeld zijn op de medaille.
