Academia Studentica (AS), St-V Medal, Belgium, Brussels, 2022. (In the colours of the Guilde de la Robe de Pourpre – 19 Pieces)

This medal was made on the occasion of the publication of the book “L’Œuvre de la Soif”, dedicated to Saint Verhaegen and its medals

 

The year 1938 corresponds to the edition of the very first Saint-V medal.

 

There are 26 colour variants corresponding for the most part to ulbist guilds, but also to circles, societies and orders from Brussels, Mons, Liège and Mouscron.

 

The lemniscate (∞) on this medal shows the desire to keep the spirit of Saint Verhaegen alive and that its commemorations may never end.

 

Saint Verhaegen or St-V takes place every year on 20 November and celebrates the founding of the ULB – Université Libre de Bruxelles which was founded by Pierre-Théodore Verhaegen on 20 November 1834.

 

In 1970, ULB was officially split into the French-speaking ULB – Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Dutch-speaking VUB – Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

 

Academia Studentica was founded on 10 December 2017 by Jeroen Coenraerds v/o Cap’n, Dan Mazzotta v/o La Mite, Robin Barthels v/o Thanos and Bert Hofmans v/o Canvas.

 

Our colors are Black-silver-blue with details in gold. Our shield is diagonally divided by a band in our colors from top left to bottom right. The upper field shows the monogram in gold on blue. The lower field shows apollo’s lyre in gold, a cane/club in brown and a wreath in green on a black background.

 

We are an international movement which aims for the study of student folklore in all its forms and propagations. This involves collecting, preserving and publishing studentical traditions and its artifacts, writing articles, organizing cantus and other activities as well as exchange trips with other folklores. We also strive to build and maintain a computerized and physical library of existing works on student folklore.

Cette médaille à été réalisée à l’occasion de la sortie du livre “L’Œuvre de la Soif”, consacré à la Saint Verhaegen et ses médailles écrit par Gaël Delcourt et sorti la même année.

 

L’année 1938 correspond à l’édition de la toute première médaille de Saint-V.

 

Il existe 26 variantes de couleurs correspondant pour la majorité à des guildes ulbistes, mais également à des cercles, sociétés et ordres provenant de Bruxelles, Mons, Liège et Mouscron.

 

Le lemniscate (∞) présent sur cette médaille démontre l’envie de continuer à faire perdurer l’esprit de la Saint-Verhaegen et que ses commémorations ne s’arrêtent jamais.

 

La Saint Verhaegen ou St-V a lieu chaque année le 20 novembre et célèbre la fondation de l’ULB – Université Libre de Bruxelles qui a été fondée le 20 novembre 1834 par Pierre-Théodore Verhaegen.

Academia Studentica a été fondée le 10 décembre 2017 par Jeroen Coenraerds v/o Cap’n, Dan Mazzotta v/o La Mite, Robin Barthels v/o Thanos et Bert Hofmans v/o Canvas.

 

Nos couleurs sont Noir-argent-bleu avec des détails en or. Notre blason est divisé en diagonale par une bande dans nos couleurs du haut à gauche au bas à droite. Le champ supérieur montre le monogramme en or sur bleu. Le champ inférieur montre une lyre d’Apollon en or, une canne/club en brun et une couronne en vert sur un fond noir.

 

Nous sommes un mouvement international qui vise l’étude du folklore étudiant sous toutes ses formes et propagations. Cela implique la collecte, la préservation et la publication des traditions étudiantes et de ses artefacts, la rédaction d’articles, l’organisation de cantus et d’autres activités ainsi que des voyages d’échange avec d’autres folklores. Nous nous efforçons également de construire et de maintenir une bibliothèque informatisée et physique des travaux existants sur le folklore étudiant.

Deze medaille werd gemaakt ter gelegenheid van de publicatie van het boek “L’Œuvre de la Soif”, gewijd aan de heilige Verhaegen en haar medailles, geschreven door Gaël Delcourt en gepubliceerd in hetzelfde jaar.

 

Het jaar 1938 komt overeen met de uitgave van de allereerste Saint-V medaille.

 

Er zijn 26 kleurvarianten die grotendeels overeenkomen met ulbistische gilden, maar ook met kringen, genootschappen en ordes uit Brussel, Bergen, Luik en Moeskroen.

 

De lemniscaat (∞) die op deze medaille aanwezig is, toont de wens om de geest van Sint Verhaegen levend te houden en dat haar herdenkingen nooit ophouden.

 

Sint Verhaegen of St-V vindt elk jaar plaats op 20 november en viert de oprichting van de ULB – Université Libre de Bruxelles die op 20 november 1834 werd opgericht door Pierre-Théodore Verhaegen.

Onze kleuren zijn Zwart-zilver-blauw met details in goud. Ons schild is diagonaal verdeeld door een band in onze kleuren van linksboven naar rechtsonder. Het bovenste veld toont het monogram in goud op blauw. Het onderste veld toont de lier van Apollo in goud, een wandelstok/knuppel in bruin en een krans in groen op een zwarte achtergrond.

 

Wij zijn een internationale beweging die zich inzet voor de studie van studentenfolklore in al haar vormen en uitingen. Dit omvat het verzamelen, bewaren en publiceren van studentikoze tradities en haar artefacten, het schrijven van artikelen, het organiseren van cantussen en andere activiteiten, alsook het organiseren van uitwisselingsreizen met andere folklores. We streven ook naar het opbouwen en onderhouden van een digitale en fysieke bibliotheek van bestaande werken over studentenfolklore.
