Apolloon
Apolloon is the faculty circle of the Faculty of Movement and Physical Rehabilitation Sciences of the KU Leuven.

History
Apolloon was founded in 1944 by Louis De Wolf as a faculty circle of the faculty of movement and physical rehabilitation sciences of the KULeuven. In 1949, however, it was incorporated into Helicoon and finally founded again by Wilfried De Pauw in 1951.
During the presidency of Jan Offeciers (1976-1977), De Sportzak was based in a rented room at Naamsestraat 156. The next academic year, it moved to premises at Naamsestraat 185. Because of increasingly declining cost efficiency, Apolloon was forced to close the doors of the Sportzak in 1989. From 1995 onwards, Fak evenings were organised in café De Wink. (which later became 't Vervolg). In 1996, they moved to De Weirdo's (the later MAXIM'O, to move again in 1997 to 't Groot Genoegen, near the Oude Markt. In 1998, Apolloon returned to De Wink to move for the last time in 2000 to the basement of De Waaiberg, where De Sportzak is located to this day.

Colours
Apolloon's colours are Blue-Silver-Blue, however they do not wear Couleur .
Originally the colours were Red-Silver.
- The first shield was designed by Florent De Valck.
Apolloon joined the FK after which the name was changed to FK Apolloon.
The colours Black-Gold-Silver directly refer to the colours of the FK. The colour Silver was added to the coat of arms as the only colour available at the time.
On the left of the shield we find the Olympic rings (reversed) and torch containing the old Sedes of the KULeuven. To the right is the Flemish Lion, facing the shield.
- In 1991-1992 a new shield was designed under the leadership of Praeses Ingrid Proesmans. The representation of the shield came about by the person responsible for kiné: Koen Michiels.
The Flemish Lion in the right half was replaced by the Zirkel of Apollon and the logo on the left half was adapted, as were the colours. The Olympic rings and torch remained but the Sedes of the KULeuven was omitted and replaced by a flame on the torch. The flame is made up of two snakes curling upwards to form a Caduceus, which symbolises peace, protection and healing. Presumably this was added to emphasise the sports-medical nature of the education in combination with the Olympic torch.
The colours were changed to Silver-Red-Silver; however the reason for this is not known.
The motto on top of the shield again emphasizes the sports-medical character of Physical Education and Kiné.
- The shield that is in use until today was designed in 1993 by Kurt Wuyts (Praeses 1993-1994) and Alain Van Koeveringe (Praeses 1994-1995). The Fakulteiten Konvent merged in 1986 into the Leuvense Overkoepelende Kringorganisatie (LOKO), which meant that Apolloon was no longer bound by the colours imposed by the FK.
Silver remained the main colour of Apolloon, but the Black and Gold were replaced by Blue, after the house colour of the KULeuven. These colours are also found in the banner at the top of the shield.
The current shield emphasises Apolloon's function as a faculty circle and its affiliation with LOKO and the Leuven University. The Zirkel of Apolloon was also added to the right half of the shield and the logo on the left was taken from the old logo of 1955. The Sedes of the KULeuven was replaced by the new Sedes, which shows the year of foundation of the KULeuven.
Lied
The Apolloon song was written by Paul Libert in 1958. The melody was discovered by Armand Van Capellen (Praeses 1957-1958) who heard the song Treue Bergvagabunden during his stay in Austria.
