Medica
Medica is the overarching faculty association of the Medicine and Biomedical Sciences students at the KU Leuven.

History
Medica was founded in 1954 by Dolf Holemans, Dr. Patrick Waterblee and Dr. Rik Vandekerkhove as a successor of the old faculty circle of medicine and natural sciences Taal en Kennis.
Medica is known, among other things, for organising the event Bloedserieus, together with the Leuvense Bio-ingenieurs Kring (LBK). This event engages students to donate blood. Medica is a member of the Leuvense Overkoepelende Kringorganisatie (LOKO). In terms of membership, Medica is the largest circle in Leuven.
In 2008 the students of sexual sciences split off and formed their own circle: Eros.
Colours
The colours of Medica are Blue-Green-Blue.
Their shield shows on the left an esculape in green and yellow on a purple field. The right field shows their colours diagonally from top right to bottom left with their Zirkel in black. At the top is a yellow field with their name in black.
Couleur
Members of Medica wear Couleur, but only on very specific occasions.
The praeses wears a Bordeaux red band with the coat of arms of the faculty circle embroidered on it. Above this is written in golden letters PRAESES.
Praesidium members wear a Praesidium sash: a broad sash divided into three stripes with the colours of Medica and underneath the first name, the coat of arms, the year of the function and finally the function. A member may hold one band at the most; all functions in any consecutive year are added to the same band. This creates a kind of student curriculum that can be read from the band.
