Moeder Brugse
Moeder Brugse is a regional men's club for students from Bruges in Leuven.

History
It was the then law student Albert Ruzette who founded Moeder Brugse in 1886. The essence of the club was recreation and they had found no more in it than they were looking for. The club was then still called Brugsche Gilde and members met in De Beker, drank champagne in demis of seven francs the bottle, paid a Brugsche kluite for a large Jack-Op and when they salamandered they shouted : Beer Boss! They had a Kartel (also called beloenberd or Yzeren arm) depicting a bear with the shield of Bruges in its arms; with the year of foundation on the left and right and their motto above and below.
At the end of the 19th century, they were known as a model club and were renowned for their novice baptisms where something farcical always occurred. The Bruges folk were strong in poetry and singing, and for revues they went the extra mile.
In 1906, 1907 and 1908, big changes arose in the Leuven student world. Jef Vanden Eynde led the students and Ernest Claes was chief editor of Ons Leven. Art and song evenings emerged. Edgard Tinel came with his "Katharina" and "Godelieve". Blockx with "Baldie". Hullebroeck, Botrel and Arthur Meulemans with their songs. And yet everything remained as studentical. The student caps came on and once again it was the Bruges people who first brought them to Leuven. Ons Leven celebrated in 1908, including a procession of lights. Joe English, who was residing in Leuven at the time, made a ship for the Brugse with which they won prizes. Ernest Claes mentions this in his book "Leuven, o dagen schone dagen".
When the university was closed during the First World War, the operation of the Brugse was also halted. Following the fashion of the times, it was no longer called Gilde but Moeder after the war years.
After World War II, the club's coffers were so well filled that Moeder Brugse started organising trips for its members.
Moeder Brugse remained indestructible and celebrated its centenary in 1986.
Colours
Their colours are Red-White-Blue with Blue as the main colour.
The left half of the shield shows a blue Bruges lion on a white-red striped background while the right half is filled in with the club colours and the Zirkel.
