History

The high student club Moeder Heidebloem is a student association of Leuven university students hailing from the North Limburg region. The club was founded in 1898 by Johan Bijvoet and Jaak Boonen. As the oldest club of the Limburgse Gilde, Heidebloem has a rich tradition. Passages in the Ambiorix, the Kraakske and Den Boule did not go unnoticed.

During WWI and a brief period in the 1970s, the club had no active operation. However, it was always quickly re-established. After the turn of the century, most Limburg clubs went through a crisis and they disappeared one by one, including Moeder Heidebloem in 2003.

In the 2011-2012 academic year the thread was picked up again by an enthusiastic group of students. Under the leadership of refundator Bob Martens v/o Kotske, Moeder Heidebloem was restored and rejoined theLimburgse Gilde and the Seniorenkonvent.

Colours

Its colours are Purple-White-Green with Purple as the main colour.

The shield shows a heather flower on the left while the right half is filled in with the colours and the Zirkel.
